The Slade School of Fine Art is delighted to present ‘The Brain Unravelled’: an interdisciplinary exhibition where art, anthropology and neuroscience come together.
At a time of unprecedented interest in the role of the mind in everyday life, this exhibition looks at some of the brain research that goes on and demonstrates how fruitful the interaction between disciplines can be.
The exhibition has been organised by young anthropologist and curator Maria Lopes and includes major works by more than thirty artists, anthropologists and neuroscientists including a sculpture by Antony Gormley never seen in London before, Storm Thorgerson, installations by Liliane Lijn and Future Sound of London in collaboration with Dianne Harris, Paul Friedlander, Beau Lotto, Madi Boyd, Mark Lythgoe, a sculpture by Japanese artist Fumie Kihara which represents her UK debut and research images by Harvard neuroscientists Joshua Sanes, Jean Livet and Jeff Litchman. The Minister of Culture, Barbara Follett will be opening the show.
