The installation ” The Scene” (derived from ‘Crime Scene’ or ‘Tatort’) is a co-operation of 10 artists. Contentwise the installation deals with the topics civilization in the form of weapon fetishism, the joy of glittering explosions, rage and violence.
The room can be the place of a manic collecting obligation like also a possible exploration of this topic. The central sculpture is a large chandelier of Ali Fitzgerald and a glassy sleep place of Oliver Scharfbier, which exposes the exhibition place as a hotel room and highlights its earlier habitableness. At the walls is a pin-board-like gathering of material accumulated.
Newspaper articles, pictures from the internet, bought objects and pieces of work of the different artists play with an aesthetics of horror. The graphical material and the objects range between pop-culture and news-amazement. Fiction and reality mix in the eye of the viewer due to the overburdyness of the mass of graphical material and are at the same time mirrors of our current perception of the media.
The room is darkened and the walls are covered with black foil.
Die Installation “The Scene” (angelehnt an ‘Crime Scene’ oder ‘Tatort’) ist eine Zusammenarbeit von Extraschrot mit 10 weiteren Künstlern. Inhaltlich kreist die Installation um die Themen Zivilisation in Form von Waffenfetischismus, der Freude an gleißenden Explosionen, Wut und Gewalt. Der Raum kann der Ort eines manischen Sammelzwangs sein wie auch eine mögliche Untersuchung dieses Themas. An den Wänden ist eine pinwandartige Materialsammlung angehäuft. Zeitungsartikel, Bilder aus dem Internet, gekaufte Objekte und Arbeiten der verschiedenen Künstler spielen mit einer Ästhetik des Grauens. Das Bildmaterial und die Objekte bewegen sich dabei zwischen Popkultur und Nachrichtenschrecken. Fiktion und Realität vermischt sich im Auge des Betrachters aufgrund der Überforderung durch die Masse des Bildmaterials und sind gleichzeitig Spiegel unserer aktuellen Wahrnehmung der Medien.
