Deus is a series of photographic light-boxes, based on visits to post-industrial sites around the UK, such as Dungeness Power Station, a Welsh slate quarry, the Yorkshire Dales.
This body of work grew from an extended study of experiments on how a powerfully illuminated presence affects the surrounding environment. These images continue UVA’s investigation into the emotional effects of light within a diversity of landscapes and environments.
Background
UVA has worked with U2, Kylie, V&A, Massive Attack, Battles, Tate Modern, etc., etc., creating phenomenal interactive installations that synchronize graphics, lights and music perfectly with their surroundings, often as real-time immersive viewer experiences.
Profile
UVA recently responded to a request from the WWF (World Wild Fund for Nature) to create a one-off interpretation of their memorable panda bear collection box. Other artists involved in this environment awareness project include Gary Hume, Mark Wallinger, Jake & Dinos Chapman, David Hockney, Rachel Whiteread, Tracey Emin, and fashion designer Paul Smith.
Their exhibition at The Smithfield Gallery, current presentation at Riflemaker gallery, and recent commission from WWF, sets a new course for UVA, whilst they continue to develop projects with the music industry, such as U2
