Richard Corbett Wetland Reflections 24th-28th November

Monmouth-based artist, Richard Corbett, has always been inspired by Nature, especially the vast open spaces carved by rivers and seas, so, when he discovered Newport Wetlands, he found it to be the perfect place to inspire his “beautiful and evocative” paintings and prints for his first London solo exhibition at The Smithfield Gallery www.richardcorbett.biz

More than 40 oil paintings will be hung at the gallery, reflecting the striking scenery and wildlife at the wetlands, from golden reedbeds to dramatic skies over the Severn Estuary. Richard will also be showcasing his specially created series of unique relief prints.

In the time that Richard has worked on this collection he has created some stunning pieces that have captured the spirit of the wetlands as well as the attention of collectors in the US, the UK and France, whilst the originality of his prints has caused a stir in galleries in Wales and the rest of the UK.

Richard’s work has been seen at the Hay Festival, the Aldeburgh Festival and at the Ludlow Summer Exhibition, as well as solo shows in galleries around the UK.

This exhibition is in association with the RSPB, who have an Environmental Education and Visitor centre at Newport Wetlands. 20% of proceeds from sales will go towards their lifelong learning initiative.

The full catalogue of works will go online from the 31st October.
