Raised in the Middle East,graduated from Jadavpur University ,Debjani is now based at New Bombay from where she pursues her career as an artist.She has completed her 7 year course in fine arts from Bangiya Sangeet Academy.For the last 10 years she has been working with her Teacher Srimati Bonani Bhowmick (Govt. Art College Kolkatta).
“My interest in art as a creative form developed as I worked as a set designer for Padatik before my marriage,it was the guidance and support from eminent theatre personalities like Sri Shyamand Jalan,Sri Khaled Chowdhury ,Sri Satyadev Dubey and Sri Soumitra Roythat my creative powers grew.I have designed the setsfor Padatik plays like Kanyadan,Pratibimb,etc…Further along the way Istarted interacting with the Block printers Of Sreerampore and Madhubani Artist,it is from them that have developed my love for intense primary colors,which I use on my canvases to depict forms and moods.”
