Went to this on Thursday 17th of March , it was at The Well at The Old Truman Brewery.
The show was great lots of imagination, but we only took photos of JC’s stuff cause we know him etc –
You can see photos of his work below and ED who’s another creative friend in London and some of me.
Below is an explanation of JC’s work –
HAMBURGERFONT is a display face based on cuts to a circleIn 1980, International Typeface Corporation (ITC) announced submission guidelines for type designers; set your proposed typeface using the words HAMBURGEVONS.
ITC would then advise changes to the design in orderfor the font to be approved and distributed.
The letterforms of the word HAMBURGVONS exhibit the principle characteristics of a given typeface.
From looking at this word you are able to imagine the rest of the alphabet as the ‘rules’ are in place (diagonal, horizontal, vertical strokes and bowls).
In the 1980s HAMURGEVONS accidentally turned into HAMBURGERFONTS by an English speaker who didn’t realise Germans pronounce ‘v’ like our ‘f’I will be serving the typeface in burger form at the private view.
