ART OPENING: Correspondence c/o Design Butler

Correspondence is a collection of works c/o Design Butler that:

Predominantly capturing the confidence of women with equally confident and precise lines, each stroke emphasising the delicateness of their femininity. The illustrations feature women in their most natural element, nude, or half nude, capturing the myth of nudity and its synonymity with the erotic by dangling it upside down by the feet as a celebratory exhibit of the female form. The catalyst behind the creative process lies largely in an innate response to a well taken photograph and an inquiry into the implications behind recreating an image in a different medium. Each illustration encompasses a natural affinity for reportage. Whereas the art found it’s origins in recording real events and situations by hand on paper, the technique records the subjects with a delving intimacy where relationship between artist and muse evades all complications to remain as one of ease, trust and simplicity.

About The Artist
Design Butler is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice focuses on the intentional removal of informational excess through a subtle, minimalistic approach. His work fixates on the significance of clarity in content, while upholding an uncompromising attitude towards achieving figurativism in a minimalistic art form.

Influenced by the likes of George Butler and Olivier Kugler and their use of quick lines to complete a composition — Butler grasps at the purity of objects in their rawest form, depicting just how possible it is to dissect the physical personality, without eliminating the elementary aspects of allure that many contemporary individuals relate to.

His craft undertook its beginnings in clothing design as a path to artistic utilitarianism. “Hypethrash Studios” was founded in June 2013 as a platform for the artist to see his ideas progress the boundaries of theoretical limitations. Butler created a shirt gallery not as a rebellion against retail lines, but instead to allow his art to serve a practical purpose beyond a home-hung canvas: portability.

Recent works predominantly capture the confidence of women with equally confident and precise lines, each stroke emphasising the delicateness of their femininity. The illustrations feature women in their most natural element, nude, or half nude, Design Butler captures the myth of nudity and its synonymity with the erotic by dangling it upside down by the feet as a celebratory exhibit of the female form.

All design and art forms aim to convey a message, which is more often than not, bundled with emotion in an effort to evoke a reaction in an audience. It is precisely the artist’s unflinching clarity of vision that allows him to express something complex in as few lines as possible, allowing the audiences to discover the emotion, thoughts and make the connections themselves, filling in their own gaps, rather than imposing them.

Art for me is more than a money or a career, it’s an expression of who I am at any given point in time, an expression of my innermost thoughts. The ability to be able to bring my ideas to life brings me the most joy. Most of the time my process of creation isn’t smooth, but do I enjoy every bit of it.
