Incredible artists to be involved in Gromit Unleashed!

A host of internationally-renowned artists will be designing Gromit sculptures as part of our Gromit Unleashed project – and we are delighted to reveal a selection of them!

The latest sculptures to be complete have been designed by iconic designers Paul Smith, with his ultra-contemporary stripes and Cath Kidston, who has decorated Gromit in her renowned floral print. Simon Tofield, award-winning illustrator and animator of the cartoon series Simon’s Cat has covered Gromit in mini cat illustrations and the animation director of Disney’s ground-breaking Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Richard Williams, has adorned Gromit in dazzlingly bright rainbow hues.

Their eye-catching sculptures will join an eclectic mix of statues from world-famous artists, including much-loved children’s author and illustrator Sir Quentin Blake, whose inimitable drawings have adorned over 300 children’s books, famously those written by Roald Dahl; Martin Handford, creator of the ‘Where’s Wally’ phenomenon and Richard ‘Golly’ Starzak, creator of Aardman’s hugely popular series, ‘Shaun the Sheep’.

And the list goes on! Leading editorial cartoonist Peter Brookes and renowned illustrator Gerald Scarfe will be bringing their distinctive styles to the project, as will fashion and interiors designer Celia Birtwell, whose bold textile designs defined the 1960s. Other artists joining the project are British pop artist Sir Peter Blake, who designed The Beatles album cover for ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’; Turner prize nominee and installation artist Mark Titchner; extreme-angler and presenter of River Monsters, Jeremy Wade; contemporary landscape artist David Inshaw, whose famous painting ‘The Badminton Game’ was purchased by the Tate Gallery and Bristol-based installation street artist ‘Filthy Luker’.

We are thrilled that these incredible artists are taking part in Gromit Unleashed, to help raise funds for Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal the Bristol Children’s Hospital charity. We know their designs are going to be fantastic!
