Japanese design studio YOY has created a collection of furniture that appears to be 2D wall art, but can actually be sat upon when leaned against a wall. The collection is called Canvas and was presented at Milan Design Week 2013.
The collection is a series of 2D furniture pieces with the frames made of wood and aluminum. The pieces are then covered with an elastic fabric with screen-printed illustrations of various types of furniture. Each piece can be used by leaning it against a wall and applying weight on it by sitting on the flexible fabric. The collection comes in three sizes, a stool, a 1P sofa and a 2P sofa.
