Yesterday Amnesty International launched its first-ever concept shopping emporium, in London’s unique shipping-container-department-store, BOXPARK Shoreditch.

Throughout 2012 Amnesty Shop @ BOXPARK will be the exclusive stockist of a brand new collaboration collection, produced for Amnesty by CultureLabel.

To coincide with the 50th anniversary of the movement, Amnesty International has enlisted British creative talent – including Stuart Semple, Alexandra Lazar, Corrie Williamson, Jimbob Art Ceramics, Lucy Jay and The New English – to provide their artistic interpretations of ‘freedom of expression’.

The collection

Mindful Christmas shoppers can choose from a range of limited-edition jewellery, stationery, home-wares and prints; resting assured that each item has been crafted in the UK using ethically sourced materials. See attached artist & designer-maker fact sheets for full details. New product lines will be rolled out seasonally throughout 2012.

Free festive events

Amnesty Shop @ BOXPARK will be hosting a calendar of free events, throughout the festive period and beyond. Authors such as Jonathan Kemp and Ali Smith will be popping in for readings and signings, plus turning guest-librarian; hand-choosing the selection of second-hand books available for sale each month.

Lara Woolston Sales Manager at Amnesty International comments: ‘50 years on, Amnesty International’s need to campaign for human rights remains as crucial as ever. Amnesty Shop @ BOXPARK is an exciting new way to support our work. It is full of collectible and thought provoking art and design. Treating friends and family (or maybe yourself) to an amazing gift can also help protect people all over the world; wherever justice, fairness, freedom and truth are denied.’
