Seattle-based Japanese artist Etsuko Ichikawa works with glass and fire for her on-paper art. The artist has as an emotional attachment to fire. She creates abstract drawings known as ‘pyrographs’ by looping, stretching and pressing fiery 2100°F molten glass on top of paper. When Ichikawa first started this series of drawings, it was messy: glass broke everywhere, paper burnt and she had no system of killing the fires.
“It was fun—I think that’s the heart of this project,” she said.
She could spend eight hours painting 120 pieces, non-stop.
“It’s important for me to be surprised,” “Once I get perfection, I think the series will end.” More Info and images Via:[DesignTAXI]
