Thursday 4th: WESTWAY MOTORWAY ART CRASH (Part 1). 8.30pm (£4)
A special event with filmmakers, local historians, and writers who’ll celebrate the Westway- the road in the sky’s psychogeography. Expect rare documentaries, slides, and readings: from demolition to building, JG Ballard to The Clash. Guests: Adam Ritchie, Constantine Gras, Maggie Tyler, and Tom Vague, with Tim Burke.
Friday 5th: MICK JONES ROCK & ROLL PUBLIC LIBRARY BENEFIT. 8.00pm. (donations)
WESTWAY TO THE WORLD MUSIC (PG) U.K 2000, 60 mins. Dir; Don Letts, with The Clash.
Letts’s combines old footage from the band’s personal collection, and truly, unexpurgately, tells the Clash’s story right from the start, from the Westway the world. Introduced by Joe Strummer’s acclaimed biographer Chris Salewicz ( and more).
Saturday 6th: WITHNAIL AND I (12) 8.30pm (£4)
Dir Bruce Robinson. Starring Paul McGann, Richard E Grant
This cult classic hasn’t dated a bit. Grant and McGann as wasted substance abusers are fantastic. Keep an eye out for the now demolished Mother Redcap in Tavistock Crescent. Unmissable, even after all the years.
Sunday 7th: SUNDAY SPECIAL: 8.pm (£4)
JEAN DE FLORETTE. (P.G) Fr, 1986, 116mins.
Dir: Claude Berri. Starring: Gerard Depardieu, Yves Montand.
This hugely successful French historical drama concerns a bizarre battle royale over a valuable natural spring in a remote French farming community. Beautifully acted and filmed. This will be an un-miscible evening, setting the stage for the film’s equally successful sequel next Sunday.
