NEW on-line arts publication: REMOTE – Launches 28th Feb 2011

Remote will be an on-line arts publication working as an evolving exhibition platform for artists and curators. Remote wishes to showcase not only the works of selected artists but also the curatorial process by involving the curators and artists over a period of 6 months, thereby making it possible to observe and engage with the evolutionary development of the exhibition.

Each project will be the curatorial work of invited curators and/or artists which will evolve over the duration of the on-line exhibition/publication. At the end of the 6 month span allotted to each project the works will be de-installed, edited and made into a hard copy book which will be available for purchase on-line and in some specialist shops. In the meantime, the next 6 month exhibition/publication will go on-line.

Remote is pleased to present it’s debut publication, Transcendental Freakout, curated by Sydney based artists Kuba Dorabialski and Katy B Plummer, which will be available to view beginning 28/02/11.

We’re so embarrassed about this. We’re hiding behind our fringes and locking ourselves in the toilet; we just can’t believe we’re telling you this…

We want to know whether or not artists can still talk about Big Things — big, metaphysical, transcendental, existential, poetic, God-demanding stuff — with non-ironic irony, with lightness, and without embarrassing themselves and all their friends.

Artists include Kuba Dorabialski, Jan Harrison, Ulrike Heidenreich, Tara Marynowsky, Todd McMillan, Kris Moyes, Katy B Plummer.

Katy and Kuba have been sleeping and working together for over a decade. While they’ve never really collaborated on an art project before, they’ve never really not collaborated before. Kuba is the brains behind the operation, while Katy is the smarts. Katy calls the shots, and Kuba is in control of it all.

They’re convinced that all that you need is a rabid burning, blind passion and, presto, you’ve made celestial poetry! They have two sons, a garden, a bookshop and dozens of half finished artworks and novels between them.
