Exploring the intimate act of keeping a diary, experimental youth initiative Ctrl.Alt.Shift is currently exhibiting Ctrl.Alt.Shift presents Dear Diary at Gallery Seven in Covent Garden, which explores the art of diary keeping, from audio diaries of teens living with AIDS or Tourettes, to Dan Eldon’s beautiful visual journals of his time spent in Kenya as a photographer for Reuters, plus a library of famous diaries and journals from the political to the cult. Dear Diary also helps to draw attention to the lives of young people coping with extreme experiences throughout the world including a selection of diaries kept by young people growing up in the slums of Kenya. Ctrl.Alt.Shift have also produced a limited edition journal, with lined pages for written confessions and blank pages for sketches. It has a cover illustration by Alexa Chung and includes words of wisdom from the likes of diary keepers Anais Nin and Courtney Love and Jodie Harsh.
