Noenga is proud to be the first art community that opens the doors to an online museum. An innovative event in the world of art because the exhibition shows and sells artwork chosen by a community representing thousands of artists, professionals and art lovers worldwide in a unique way.

Noenga has always claimed to be an innovative art brand and by presenting this great new feature we keep our word says Noenga founder Misha Stoutenbeek.

‘The virtual museum clearly represents Noenga’s vision of how art will be experienced in the future. The rise of browser based 3d technologies creates new dynamics and challenging opportunities for all. For most visual artists the web mainly serves as a marketing and promotion tool at this moment but 3D technology might change that in the near future. These applications have great potential to improve the quality of the online art experience. Maximizing this experience will stimulate online art sales making visual artists more independent than ever. These emerging technologies are exciting, what we are showing now, is only the beginning!’

‘But it’s not just the technique. It’s also about the process behind what’s being exhibited that makes this something unique. At Noenga we try to use all the possibilities that social media has to offer. Our museum is based on an art community platform where people from all over the world can participate, appraise and interact with artists and the art that is being presented. In this museum it is not Noenga or a team of curators that decide what’s being exhibited, but you! Thanks to our art valuation system everyone is a curator!’

‘The digital revolution is a fact. There are over 200,000,000 blogs online and social communities are visited by more than two-thirds of the world’s online users. Google expects that eventually around 5 billion people will own a mobile phone. Imagine all those people going online through their phone.

Currently Noenga is growing fast and counts around 30,000 unique visitors a day which is a lot more than the Louvre in Paris sees on a daily basis!

That has to make one think about the possible future of art. Art through social media is big and museums and galleries could learn from it. The internet is where the people are communicating these days so museums should be there too, building communities around their name and participating in online discussions.

Therefore we are openly inviting galleries and museums to work with us. We are open-minded and willing to share our vision with these organizations.
