Curated by Eat Your Own Ears’ Tom Baker, alongside Steve Lamacq, John Kennedy, Radio 1’s Huw Stephens, Bloggers Delight, Merok, Witchita Recordings, The Wire, Time Out and The Stool Pigeon, amongst others, and held across a staggering 18 venues, Thursday 2nd October will kick off with Beyond The Wizards Sleeve the Balearic behemoth formed by erstwhile Trash promoter Erol Alkan and former grid member Richard Norris. Other notable acts playing on Thursday will include former Clor front-man Barry Dobbin’s new band Barringtone, the proggy power pop of the hotly tipped Cats In Paris, North London troubadour Kid Harpoon, Franki Valli remixer Pilooski with the Dirty Sound System, psychedelic rockers The Oscillation and synth-pop noise-niks Semi Finalists plus more special guests to be announced.

If that’s not enough to whet your appetite for the Concrete & Glass experience, Friday is packed full of sonic nuggets including indie kings Pete & The Pirates, sublime ex-Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci main man Euros Childs, disco cosmonaut Lindstrom, Michachu’s experimental electro punk folk, the fantastically raucous Lets Wrestle and New York indie dons TV on the Radio. The art strand is being overseen by established curator Flora Fairbairn and will feature over 30 projects in disused warehouses, outdoor spaces and empty shops in collaboration with curators, artists and galleries, launching concurrently with the music but in most cases running on through Frieze weekend. The central art event, Heart of Glass, in association with Contemporary Arts Society is a site-specific show of work from 25 established and emerging artists that will be begin on 2nd October in the basement of Shoreditch Town Hall and will run until 19th October. The ground floor of Shoreditch Town Hall will host new photographs by LA based photographer Alexandra Hedison. Artprojx present David Blandy’s ‘Duals & Dualities’ at the Whitechapel Gallery on 3rd October, Gerry Fox’s film installation ‘Favella Descending’ will be at Village Underground between the 2nd and 11th October, Dominic Berning Presents Jane Watt ‘Outside In’ at Eleven Spitalfields and Saatchi On Line will present fifteen artists chosen from Saatchi On Line, including Carla Busuttil and Maurizio Anzeri, at the Cosa Gallery above Beach Blanket Babylon. Other projects include performance art curated by Mark McGowan, an installation presented by Kinetica Museum in Kenny Shachter’s Rove Gallery, in Hoxton Square, the inaugural show at 22 Calvert Avenue, a design exhibition curated by Arts Co., and a fantasy record store presented by Riflemaker Gallery, amongst other projects.
