Pick Me Up, the UK’s original contemporary graphic arts festival has returned for its annual celebration of the wonderfully diverse world of graphic arts at London’s Somerset House.

As well as showcasing and selling affordable artworks in live action studio spaces from the world’s most inventive and ingenious graphic artists, Pick Me Up presents an exciting and eclectic programme of events and workshops, hosted by some very special guests.

This Weekend is ‘The Children’s Choice Weekend’ which will see Shaun the Sheep model-making workshops with animators at the award-winning studio Aardman and family-fun activities with famed illustrator Axel Scheffler, the man who visually creates the characters of Julia Donaldson’s much-loved children’s books, including those from The Gruffalo, Room on a Broom and The Snail and the Whale. Axel’s activities will include storytelling time for younger children, The Gruffalo illustration workshop for older ones – with live drawing projections and one-to-one advice – and book signings for all.

I always seem to bump into the brilliant Connor Harrington near Brick Lane. I’m often massively jet lagged and frothing at the mouth so I’m not too sure what we talk about though.
