Debut Contemporary invites art lovers to celebrate it’s 2nd Birthday, expecting a record attendance at the Black & White themed Private View on the 6th of March 2013 at it’s renowned gallery space at 82 Westbourne Grove, London. The exhibition features the latest hand-picked talent including recent graduates as well as more established artists from both the UK and internationally.
Noted as ‘The New Art Angels’ by Quintessentially Magazine, only 24 months since the concept launched, the Debut team has proudly watched the careers of the artists involved flourish from participation in the Venice Biennale, high profile exhibitions in China, the Middle East and USA, awards and residencies, joining Museum collections and much more. Last year saw the launch of their biannual Debut Contemporary Artist of Tomorrow Awards, offering students the opportunity to get ahead of the game before they graduate and win a year membership for free coupled with a number of complimentary prizes from likeminded businesses including Fluff PR, jotta, The Shape Of and Artists’ Collecting Society. 2012 also saw a specially curated exhibition programme by internationally recognised Sara Raza for the Olympics and the start of their bespoke monthly dining experience, The Art Dinner, a favoured social event for Tatler, where invited guests enjoy a colourful menu in the company of Debut Artists at the gallery.

“What I love about Debut is that it adds value to artists that they can’t get elsewhere. Their focus on professional practice and helping artists understand the business around art is sorely needed ” – Toby Kress, Director of Frith Street Gallery & workshop leader at Debut Contemporary

Debut Contemporary is the only professional development and career empowerment platform of its kind in the UK and follows on from the success the founders, husband and wife duo, Samir Ceric and Zoe Knight achieved through the launch of Salon Contemporary and Wolf & Badger which earned them the industry titles such as ‘One of the UK’s Most Powerful Couples in Art & Fashion’ (The Times Magazines), ‘Kingmakers of Creative Talent’ (International Life Magazine), ‘London’s Top Tastemakers’ (Time Out London), to name a few.

Selected artists benefit from regular mentoring sessions and weekly workshops with industry professional, laid out to equip artists with a business savvy mind. Their work is showcased and sold in a prime gallery location in Notting Hill. The gallery operates at a 20/80 split of sales, with the majority going to the artist, and encourages a very transparent buyer-artist relationship. Previous workshop leaders include ex-Christies auctioneer Paul Barthaud, Gallerists’ Cynthia Corbett and Hannah Barry, Whitney Hintz of Hiscox, Anders Petterson of ArtTactic, Elif Bayoglu of Sotheby’s, Lucille Zacaria of Deutsche Bank and Jonathan Colchester of GAM Investment.
