Three Wise Women for your Christmas Tree | GraphicDesign& Christmas decorations with a twist

The simplicity of ecclesiastical dress has inspired fashion designers from Valentina to Victoria Beckham via Karl Lagerfeld and Jean-Paul Gaultier, and now its the turn of graphic designers. This Christmas GraphicDesign& are offering a celebration of Three Wise Women as unique festive designs from Ryan Todd and Veronica Bennett.

An embodiment of less is more, these Christmas decorations bring the aesthetics of the ascetic to your Christmas tree with three Nun decorations specifically chosen for their dress codes. Each decoration celebrates a highly codified dress which tells a different Christmas story, from the visitation to the annunciation. A collaborative effort between Ryan Todd’s, known for his witty graphical amalgamations of informative ideas-led images, and Veronica Bennett, a cultural theologian fascinated by visual representations of religion in secular society, the tree decorations have already relieved the tinsel-fatigued hearts at Wallpaper* HQ.

The pieces preview the forthcoming GraphicDesign& Religion / Dress / Semiotics title Looking Good / Decoding the Nun’s Habit, a guidebook to the symbolism of what nuns wear, its relationship to history, fashions and society.

GraphicDesign& partners graphic design with other subject areas in order to publish books, host events and bring news to the culturally curious of collaborations that are demonstrative of just how much good design matters. Established by design practitioner and writer Lucienne Roberts and design educator and writer Rebecca Wright, GraphicDesign& launched at a sell-out event at London’s Design Museum earlier this year.
