1 When did you start to make art?
When I was seven years old.

2 What drove you to make art as a professional vocation?

Disillusioned with a previous career in Graphic illustration.

4 Explain your inspiration?

Science fiction, communication technology and the printed image.

5 In what way does your inspiration transform into ideas?
Methodically.

6 From Ideas to production of art – how? And why?
Ideas form from random notes gathered from reference material. The ideas are written into project books: sketches, printed visual reference etc. They then after a lot of editing will possibly become final works. Why? To collect and decipher my thoughts on a subject that interests me.

7 Could your ideas be portrayed in any other medium? If so which?

Print or film.

8 Which artists would you most like to blatantly rip off?
None.

9 Why is your art made?
To stop me being idol.

10 What does being an artists mean to you?
The opportunity to continually investigate and question.

11 Are you happy with your reasons for making art? i.e Are there any trade offs that make life hard?
Ask my family.

12 When does your art become successful?

When it leads to the next thing; be that another piece of artwork, a show, a commission etc.

13 What is art?
It’s a big question.

14 How do you start the process of making work?

Read, watch films, look at art, have conversation, and then decipher it all.

15 Who prices your work? And how is the price decided upon?
Myself and the gallery I am working with.

16 What is your next; move,project,show etc?
A group show at Trolley, curated by Rachel Howard (November 25- January 16), a group show in Oxford called Five to Follow (December 5-19th December) and the Catlin Art Prize May (2010).

17 What are the pros and cons of the art market?
I don’t know I am not a dealer, but I would say being endorsed and getting endorsed.

18 Which pieces would you like to be remembered for?

Maypole – Ink and Oil on panel, 2009.

19 Any routine in making your artwork? If so what?
I work a nine to five day.

20 Who has been the biggest influence on you?

My Father.

21 How many artworks have you given away and to whom?

I’ve done swaps and trades.
