The first of two Evenings Of Doubt will take place on March 22nd 2009 at Shoreditch House in London’s East End.

The event will begin at 4.30pm with a screening of every reading of Rupert Brooke’s verse Doubts in chronological order. Throughout this time Oliver Guy-Watkins will be present to discuss the work and collect further readings and doubts.

At 7.30pm, the Evening Of Doubt will be compared by comedian Angus Lindsay and will begin with Oliver Guy-Watkins giving a short talk relating to the work Postcard To Brooke. This will be followed by a live performance of a piece of music relating to the poem Doubts.

Afterwards Oliver Guy-Watkins will host a Discussion Of Doubt, based on the postcards collected through various Amnesty Of Doubt events since the project began, containing individual’s personal doubts. For the discussion Guy-Watkins will be joined by four guests.

The first of the confirmed guests for this event is author and founder of The Art Car Boot Fair, Karen Ashton, who contributed her voice to Postcard To Brooke in April 2008.

The second guest for the discussion contributed to Postcard To Brooke at The Art Car Boot Fair in 2008, she is currently the editor of Politick Magazine, she is Laura-Jane Foley.

The third guest confirmed to take part in the Discussion Of Doubt is the artist Jessica Voorsanger, who originally read Rupert Brooke’s Doubts at The Science Museum in London during April 2008.

The final guest will be announced in the next few days.

Following this discussion, Guy-Watkins will host a short Q+A with the audience before the musician who performed earlier will close the evening with an acoustic set of his own music.

Entry to the event is free, and can be attended by non-members of Shoreditch House by emailing doubt@oliverguywatkins.com detailing your name and the amount of places you require, or by confirming your attendance on this group.

This is the first of two events at Shoreditch House, the second of which takes place on April 19th. To coincide with the March 22nd Evening Of Doubt, Oliver Guy-Watkins will install a postbox for members and guests to contribute their own doubts in the reception, where it will remain until April 19th.
